Jelly Like Substance From Bowels, Stomach Ache. What Is Going On
While trying to pass gas I unexpectedly passed a clear 'jelly' like substance with no immediate signs of blood. I have not eaten anything out of the ordinary recently, however I did have a tummy ache through the night (felt like trapped wind) I passed very runny stool this morning about 2 hours prior to this happening. I arrived back from Mahon after a long weekend with the family and had no symptoms over there nor did I eat anything unusual. I'm a 35 year old man who's now a bit concerned about my health! Please can you help?
Welcome to health care magic and thank you for asking your query.
In my opinion you are having gastroenteritis. The jelly like substance is mucous coming along with the stools. It commonly occurs in amoebic dysentry but is possible with bacterial infection as well.
I will suggest the following: 1. Stool examination. It can tell about the organism causing the infection. 2. Start anti-amoebic and anti bacterial medicines.Commonly metronidazole (Flagyl) and ciprofloxacin (Ciprin) is used. 3. To control stomach cramps you can use tab buscopan. Use for atleast 3 days.
I hope this helps.
