Knee Pain, Swollen, Tender When Applying Pressure, Hurts To Squat
Approximately one week ago I awoke in the night with pain in my knee . There is a swollen area that fits into the palm of my hand . Tender when pressure applied. Pain has recently started radiating down into my outer ankle area. Doesn t prevent me from ADL s but there is constant aching. Really hurts to squat down or try to bend down on knee. I am a 55 yo woman with no health problems until now.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Without X-ray, it is difficult to differentiate a fracture from others. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.
In the interim, take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting weight and rest well.
Wishing you good health
Regards.
