Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Lactose Intolerant, Had Lot Of Dairy Products, Passing Dark Stools. Suggestions?
My stool was like a tan color with mucus like stuff. I am lactose intolerant so not sure if that is part of it, since I had consumed a lot of dairy prior to that, with the use of Lactaid pills. Then a few days later it switched to diarrhea on and off with my stomach hurting and nausea. Now the diarrhea has stopped but my stools are still very soft, but very dark in color. What do you think this means?? Help!
* The current dark stools are in relation with altered gut flora through the intake of lactose.
* Additional intake of probiotics with lactobacillus, strict dietary measures to consume bland, vegan diet will cure the condition within next 48 hours.
* Must maintain hydration with plenty of liquids till complete recovery as well as avoid stress and anxiety.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
