Large Lump In Underarm That Is Draining Slowly. Been Put On Keflex. Why Is It Still Sore?

I have a large lump under my left underarm that started 1 week ago and got larger, it is now slowly draining after seeing my medical doctor and he started me on Keflex 500mg four times a day, it is still soar. My question is my dr referred to to another doctor for possible surgery and drainage which i am dreading, do you believe the continued use of Keflex can solve this issue and rid me of it?????? THANKS!

Hello,
Thanks for the query.

You might have developed furuncle.

These are deep bacterial infections.

Treatment is with antibiotics but the choice of antibiotics should be based on culture and sensitivity tests.

Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
