Large Lump On Bottom Right Side Of Chin, Growing Larger.

I have a large lump on the bottom right side of my chin . It started off looking like a pimple or ingrown hair but had two small heads. I pulled all the hair out of that area with tweezers and pulled all the hair under my skin, then cleaned the area. The next day it has grown larger. It has been this way for four days now and has grown larger making my chin/jaw line and bottom of right side of face noticeably swollen. It is still red and slightly purple. I have been using a heat compress and witch hazel and have gotten a white head out of it and popped it to release pus, but it is yet to look any better.

Hi,

It seems that you may have acne cystica with secondary bacterial infection.

Initially there is a small cystic acne ,gradually becomes larger and then becomes infected. There may be swelling around the lesion due to infection. The area may become hot and tender. As there is opening, the pus hs come out of the cyst.

Consult dermatologist. He may drain the the pus with making the hole larger. And he may start strong antibiotics with anti inflammatory drugs. After clearance of infection, he might give intra cystic steroid injection. That would shrink the cyst. And gradually you may be improved.

Antibiotic like minocycline in low dose may be taken for long time.
