Large Purple Bruising On Buttock, Severe Swelling After A Slip. Relief Measure?

i slipped on the stairs last night and have a large purple bruise (about 20 cm wide) on my left buttock. There is also a lot of swelling . Do i need to see a nurse or doctor, or is it a case of just giving it time to heal. It is extremely painful - is there anything i can put on or do to help the sweling and bruising and the pain? If i were at your place i would definately have consulted a doctor....it might just be a contusion but still a fracture need to be ruled out...till the time you see a doc you can have ice fermantation and some pain killers.
