Left Side Of The Face Is Drooping, Has Nasal Polyps, Diabetic And High Bp. Serious Problem?

the left side of my mom's face is drooping. in the past couple of days she has been in and out of the hospital and they have told her that she has nasal polyps and the drooping is likely from the infection due to the polyps. she also has diabetes and high blood pressure. She was told that a catscan and MRI are not showing signs of a stroke. how can i be sure this isn't more serious?

Hi, your quiry is not clear, drooping meansnot complete. If the mouth is turned towards the left, right eye is kept opened in spite of the closing is called bells palsy, due to pressure over the facial nerve. diabetis and hypertension may trigger the condition. If there is simultaneous weakness of the hand and leg on the right side it could be cerebral palsy. i advise you to consult a neurologist for diagnosis and treatment. Thank you.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
In my opinion drooping ( of face on left side) is not due to nasal polyp and at least I have not seen such case due to polyp.
This may be due to rupture of very minor artery in the brain .
Sometimes minor bleeder don't show any thing in scan or M R I .
Clinically we have to judge the finding and disease.
As your mother is case of diabetes and hyper tension , so these two are suggestive of stroke ( mild degree).
Now please keep watch over diabetes and blood pressure round the cloak.
Good luck for your mother.

hi,
since your mother is having diabetes, she is at higher risk of serious bacterial and fungal infection if not treated polyp. sometimes these fungal infections are very difficult to treat in sinus, like mucor mycosis. in this regard, kindly get the polyp operated, even though it is not due to stroke.

wishing her good health
