Leg Pain In Squatting Position, Pain Above Ankles, Overweight. Due To Arthritis Or Low Calcium Levels?
Hi, i am getting leg pain in a squatting position...i am assuming its because of my overweight ..normally i dont feel or get any pain, but when i sit in a squat position for a while...i feel pain above the ankle part ,the pain persisits for a while and disappears. Is this any sign that i ll be prone to arthritis or low calcium levels?
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
You are prone to arthritis as you are overweight but present pain above ankle is not related with arthritis.
This may be due to low calcium, deficiency of 1,25 dihydroxy cholecalciferol.
You should consult with internal medicine specialist/ neurologist and should go for thorough check up.
You should go for x ray of affected limb, nerve conduction studies and color doppler of affected limb.
You should also take coenzyme Q, vitamin E and calcium preparation.
You should also reduce your weight for better living.
You should also go for serum calcium, serum 1,25 dihydroxy cholecalciferol level.
take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
Hi,
it is common to get pain if you squat for a while especially if you are not used to it. If you are overweight then its an early warning sign so please try to reduce weight
