Loose Control Over Bowels, Bad Memory Power. Has Dementia. Suggest?

about six times now my mother (who is 85) has blacked out and looses control of her bowels - she c0mes good in about an hour or so and then seems fine - this mainly seems to happen at night - however over the last couple of years she has been diagnosed with dementia as her memory is getting real bad - could she be having mini strokes?

Hi,
As you mention that you mum was diagnosed with dementia, which is common at her age, her symptoms is most likely due to dementia. Dementia is chronic progressive degeneration of brain function form memory lost to inability for personal care. As a result of progressive degeneration due to dementia, convulsion can set in. What you described for you mum is probably convulsion characterized by blackout and lost of bowel control. Strokes is less likely but not impossible. For stroke we would have expected sudden convulsion-lost of bowel control and blackout- and rapidly deteriorating state. Investigation to further investigate the situation my be necessary. Your doctor, who I advise you to contact, will know about this.

hope this is helpful

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Due to old age some persons develops SENILE DEGENERATION and this is not an abnormal thing .
This is not a stroke but dementia .
In my opinion piracetam with BHRAMHI ( herbal ) will improve the condition and memory of your mother.
Scientifically not proved but practically very good drug without any side effects.
Good luck for your mother.
