Loose Stools, Headache, Off Balance While Walking, Nausea. Have Some Bug Around Apartment. Advice
my son age 22 has been having loose stools, headache, sometimes difficultly walking -- like his balance is off, and today he started with nausea. I have made sure that he didn't drink or eat any dairy products. He has mainly just been in bed and content to rest. There has a this type of "bug" going around the apartment complex where we live.
The symptoms suggest that your son might be having Gastroenteritis (mostly viral). Head ache & loss of balance can be attributed to the electrolyte imbalance in the body due to loose stools. Management involves: 1. Maintain adequate hydration status by intake of plenty of fluids & ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) 2. Take soft, plain diet 3. To prevent nausea, Domperidone can be taken.
If symptoms still persist, kindly consult a Gastroenterologist. Investigations like stool examination & Ultrasound scan of abdomen will be helpful.
Wishing your son a good health. Take care
