Losing Weight, Abnormal TSH Level. Taking Thyronorm. Do I Have Overactive Thyroid?

hell Doctor,

My name is jyoti. I am 25 year old and regularly losing my weight , now it is only 38 KG, my TSH leval is 27.08uIU/mL. is this over active thyroid OR under active thyroid? Doctor suggested me to take Thyronorm 50 mg. But i am not getting any benefit out of it. I am taking this for last one month.

Please suggest.

Your TSH levels are pretty high. TSH levels up when there is decreased T3 and T4(active thyroid hormone) which means you are having hypothyroidism( less active thyroid) which needs supplementation.Usually hypothyroid patients gain weight.So I suggest you to get evaluated for losing your weight.You will have to get the thyroid profile in the follow up visits on consultation with your doctor to check whether TSH levels revert.Hope I have answered your question.
