Loss Of Hair From Eye Brows, Eye Lashes, Severe Itching. No Relief With Treatment. Root Cause Of Loss?
I am a 30 year old male. About 9-12 months ago, I noticed that I seemed to be losing my eye brows and eye lashes. i lost almost 1/2 of my eye brows and eye lashes. some times my eye brows are etchy and some this.. I have consulted 3 different dermatologist and they prescribed some ointments and there is no use. Is there any test to determine the exact cause for my hair loss ? Please help
Hi Mr Kamalnath,
The causes of loss of eyebrow or eyelashes(madarosis) could be many. It could be due to medication, chronic skin allergy(severe dandruff or psoriasis), hypothyroidism, leprosy, alopecia areata etc. The diagnosis could only be made with proper skin examination and confirmed with blood tests or any other test as per the requirement. There is no point consulting so many dermatologists as the diagnosis and treatment suggested hardly varies. After all, we read the same books and follow the same treatment protocols! Kindly have faith in one dermatologist and continue the treatment diligently as response might take from one month to two month to show. Topical or intralesional corticosteroids and minoxidil might help in hair regrowth. Take care
