Loss Of Vision, Pain In Right Eye. MRI Stated Hyperintensity On Postcontrast Images At Infecerior Aspect Of Anterior Frontal Lobes. Explain

Hi , I am a 43 yr old women who started having vision loss and pain in my right eye. So after a few test from my opthamologist, I was sent to a neuro opthamologist then an MRI. Test came back pretty much all clear but stated an apparent hyperintensity on postcontrast images at the inferior aspect of anterior frontal lobes. what does that mean? the vision has returned somewhat but still not 100%. Thank you for any help.....Mylene

Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

From your post contrast MRI brain scan, it is apparent that there is some area in the undersurface of your anterior frontal lobes which is rich in blood supply. This is as such a non specific finding and needs further explanation to understand the condition totally.

Your transient visual problem might be due to problems in the optic nerve or the brain. Your case needs to be discussed with a neuro ophthalmologist before suggesting any treatment. The possibility of optic neuritis, associated conditions and complications must be ruled out.

If your vision is returning then its a good sign and most likely you will make a complete recovery with further medications.

Hope this helps
