Lost Toenail, Lump Formation. Is It Fungal Or Melanoma?
Hi I recently lost a toe nail as a result of stumping my toe during the summer. It turned black and fell off leaving a little lumpy toe nail. I just assumed my toe nail would grow back. Then, last week I noticed the toenail next to it had broken off and was lumpy. my toe nails look clear but I was wondering if I had a fungus or mellonoma?
From your description alone, it's a little difficult to judge whether the toenail has fungus or melanoma in it.
Whenever there is fungus in the toenail, they turn yellow ,become brittle, may have skin debris below the nail.
Melanoma causes nail to change color. there would be a black pigmentary change in a part of the nail.
I would recommend that you visit your dermatologist and let him have a look at the nail.
Take care
