Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Lower Leg Bruise, No Swelling Or Pain, Tightness Around Inner Ankle
I dove for a volleyball, hitting both kneecaps directly off the floor; my kneecaps are fine but immediately my lower leg bruised... the bruise is very large... the size of an eggplant probably... the bruising is the inside of the leg and about an inch below...there is no leg swelling or pain ... a bit of tightness when leg is extended around the inner ankle . Should I be concerned? How would an impact to the knee cause leg bruising in an area where there was no impact
it can happen as bruise is caused by blood collection in soft tissue and it can trickle down also so it is not unusual. I would suggest you to get knee x ray to make sure that there is nothing wrong with your bones. If it is confirmed then you van apply ice over knee, take Brufen tablet and also apply diclofenec ointment. Also you can apply compression bandage over your knee.
