Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

A lump or swelling anywhere in the body needs a constant observation.

The following warning signs should make you approach your treating doctor immediately -
* Swift increase in size of the swelling
* Swelling becoming cystic (soft)
* Suddenly becoming painful
* Change in the color of overlying skin
* Presence of signs of inflammation (pain, local rise of temparature etc)

An open biopsy of the swelling is mandatory for making a diagnosis.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
