Lump Under Skin On Elbow, Look Like Bruised. Treatment Required?
hi, my 4 year old has a pea sized lump under her skin, on her elbow, but feels like its tear shaped and then tapers off across her elbow (about an inch in all) the area looks a little bruised and does not hurt when pressed. im assuming she has banged it and caused a fluid like sac, but wondered if I might need to get it checked too. thanks
I read your concern and it looks like Olecranon bursitis that is inflammation and collection of fluids . It can be due to repeated friction / rub while playing . Usually no treatment is required but ice pack and rest to elbow with compression can reduce swelling . Consult your Pediatrician if pain develops and it is to be drained by aspiration of fluid .
Hope this information is useful, please feel free to ask if you have any queries. Regards Dr.J.Kingson John David
