Lumps Behind And Around Ear Lobes, Oozed Smelly Puss And Blood. What To Do?
Hi, i have always had small to medium size lumps grow behind and around my ear lobes. A few days ago i had a large one show up and it hurt and eventually oozed clear puss that felt tacky and had a bad garlic smell. Later it oozed a yellow puss and blood. After it grew back even larger and it is very tender. It feels thick under my skin and deep. What should i do, what might it be and do i need to see a doctor?
Hi and thanks for the query, It might be very useful to get a proper clinical evaluation. The presence of pus could imply the presence of a probable pus source which must be well evaluated. There is the possibility of spreading to the nearby structures. Dissemination of the bacterial infection to other areas of the ear, nose and throat sphere is a possibility of left uncontrolled. Chronic inflammation of the mastoid processes and the brain are possibilities. I suggest you get a proper evaluation , pus examination and culture to identify the particular germ in the process. X rays, CT scans and fibroscopies could be necessary. Thanks and best regards, Luchuo, MD.
