MRI Shows Scattered Subcortical Gliosis. Have Recurring Headaches. Meaning?

I had a recent MRI due to reoccurring headaches. Can you explain my results which state mild scattered subcortical gliosis is likely secondary to chronic small vessel ischemic changes. No recent infarct, intracranial mass lesion, or mass effect. Also states at the beginning of the report that there are mild scattered foci of increased T2/flair signal within the subcortical white matter. What does all of this mean?

In simple words, the report indicates poor flow of blood to certain regions of the brain, which could be age-related or due to a number of medical conditions. But, it is important to diagnose the condition and treat it as this can result in various other conditions (eg. dementia, brain infarct, etc.).

I would advise an elaborate blood work, to check your coagulation profile, lipid profile, glycemic profile, etc.

The changes observed are most probably due to some circulatory condition, there are many conditions which can cause this, but let us first confirm this to be due to a circulatory condition. Once we do that, we can look into the exact condition causing a problem with circulation. Do not worry, with a few more elaborate investigations we can find the cause.
