Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I've been treated for major depression since 1990. I live in a canyon far from town and need specific ideas on how to get involved with people even if it means doing a lot of driving. I no longer have a social life and don't like myself enough to be only with myself.
In my opinion, you can start with joining social networking sites and interacting with people online. There are many online chat rooms where people who share certain interests come into contact. In addition, try attending social gatherings at the nearest town, say for example, the mass held at the church every sunday. Even if you are not religious, you can take part in the social activities associated with the church and volunteer yourself when required. As you meet more people in these neutral settings, you will make friends with some of them and will have the opportunity to go for personal outings with them.
Hope this helps you.
Best wishes.
