Marble Sized Lump On The Knuckle After A Cut Followed By Bleeding. No Pain. Should I Be Concerned?

My husband cut the knuckle on his middle finger. Bled easily for a day or two. Now, a week or so later he has a firm marble sized lump on the knuckle. It's not painful or hot and does not restrict movement . What is it and what should he do about it? Thank you

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM.

It could be because of hematoma (Collection of blood inside).

It is important to avoid excessive mobility at that site as the wound is still fresh it can cause more bleeding inside (this might have caused hematoma in the first place).

It is important to use a splint (e.g a tight bandage) to avoid excessive joint mobility at the site for a few days.

I would advice that you to follow it up with your local practitioner.

take care
regards
