I am a male of 40 serving as a high school teacher and belong to Pakistan.. 3 Months earlier, I felt pain in my back. Report of CT scan is as under: REPORT A well defined oval, soft tissue density mass lesion with internal fat density is noted in left paravertebral region measuring 85 x 52 x 13 mm in (AP x Transverse x Carniocaudal extent). it is communicating with the spinal canal through left 7th neural foramina. Tiny calcific specs are also noted in the mass. Mass is abutting the aorta with intact fat plans between them. There is expansion of posterior end of left 7th rib, however cortex appears intact. Spine appears normal. -Medistinal contours appear normal -No hiler or medistinal mass seen -No focal lung parenchymal lesion seen. -No pleural effusion noted. -Visualized upper abdomen appears normal. CONCLUSION A well defined soft tissue density extrapleural lesion involving posterior mediastinum containing fatty components and specks of calcification with adjacent bony hyperostosis. Differentials for this mass include: 1. Teratoma 2. Perepheral Sympathetic neural sheath tumor. Adjacent bony lesion may be bone exostosis/ fibrous dysplasia. Doctors also suggested neuroma.
