Hello sir, Actually my husband started eating ghutka in order to quit smoking . He quits smoking and after that he left chewing ghutka some times he ate occassionally, but now he is so addicted to it and he told me today that he is having a liver problem. And now. He is unable to quit chewing ghutka. Plz give me some advise how should i help him to quit it. Thanking you in advance.
According to me, the first step you need to take is to talk with ur husband if HE is considering chewing gutka a problem and wants to quit. You will require his willingness first to consider this habit as a problem and then get rid of it.
Next, both of you can decide on a date of quitting and he can have time to prepare himsef to quit.
Make a support group that can encourage and motivate him to quit like other family members, colleagues, friends etc. Throw away all the gutka packs and ask him to buy something for kids or helping poor with the money he wqnted to spend on gutka.
If he is highly addicted, you might need to brace yourself for possible withdrawl symptoms and relapses but strong willpower can overcome these.
A visit to professional expert in tobacco cessation and rehabilitation can help too.
Thank you. I hope you find these tips helpful.
