I had umbilical hernia repair surgery through a small incision in my naval approximately two months ago. A mesh was used to correct the anomaly. Occasionally, I am now feeling a mild muscle spasm to the side of my naval. This started approximately three days ago. There was no traumatic incident prior to it (for example, I wasn t lifting anything heavy or doing anything that would possible damage the area). It s not painful, and the sensation resembles what one would feel when the eye lid twitches or another mild involuntary muscle twitch. Normally, I wouldn t be concerned, but considering the location, I m a bit nervous. I have not been doing any heavy lifting or strenuous exercise since the surgery. I m twenty-seven years old, six foot three (approximately 2 meters), and 165 lbs (75 kilos). I have no known muscle or connective tissue disease. I am in good general health. I do not smoke or drink excessively (less than three drinks per week on average; occasional cigarette use). I use no illegal or legal drugs recreationally. Does anyone know what may cause this?
