Muscle Weakness, Pain In Legs Trying To Sleep, Difficulty In Climbing Steps. What Could Be This?
Yes...please answer my question. In the last 2 yrs. I have experienced muscle weakness & now recently bad aching in my legs, especially when I TRY to sleep. Not restlessness, but aching & throbbing. I have fatigue walking up stairs too. My Dr. first said I had Polymyalgia Rheumatica & put me on prednisone (which didn't help) then said maybe I had Fibromyalgia. It's a guessing game with him. What can I do to get an answer and relief? Thank you, Kathy
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM. I personally feel that your symptoms neither fit into Polymyalgia rheumatica ( presents as pain & stiffness of shoulder girdle & pelvic muscles and never results in weakness of muscles and responds well to steroid preparations) nor Fibromyalgia ( presents with symmetrical tender points all along the back, hips and legs ). I feel your symptoms could be simple nocturnal muscle cramps which usually responds will to Vitamin E supplementation or You could be having Lumbar spinal canal stenosis which presents with similar symptoms. I advise you to undergo an MRI scan of your Lumbar spine to look for any problem in the spine. Hope this helps
