My Blood Pressure is 160/83 is that high and my pulse is 98. I had chest pain but it was only for a few seconds so I didn t worry about it. then I just my blood pressure. I retested and now its at 158/82 pulse is 93
yes. you may have hypertension(high blood pressure). systolic blood pressure or the top number is the pressure on the heart when it is contracting while diastolic blood pressure or the bottom number is the pressure on the heart when it is relaxing. If systolic blood pressure >140mmHg or diastolic > 90mmHg you may have hypertension.
your pulse is within normal range i.e 60-100.
Hypertension can only be diagnosed with multiple blood pressure readings. Some persons get white coat syndrome, which is where blood pressure is only high when you go to the doctor because you get nervous.
Hypertension is a silent killer that damages the heart. The left ventricle pumps most of the blood for their heart. Due to hypertension, the left ventricle can become enlarged this is aka left ventricular hypertrophy. It becomes enlarged because the left ventricle has to more pump blood against more pressure and so the muscle has to work harder and it will become larger to compensate.
talk to your doctor to find out if blood pressure medicine is right for you. also you may need to reduce sodium in your diet.
