Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my husband has a swollen gland under his jaw and I would like to know what can we do, is it treatable, is it life threatening, does it need surgery if so how much would it cost?
It could be anything. Only a Physical evaluation by a M.D.medicine guy or a General surgeon can the exact possibilities be ruled out and adequate and safe treatment could be provided.
A swollen gland under the jaw is most likely a swollen neck lymph node. It commonly occurs due to any infection in the head and neck region commonly due to a dental infection. The other causes can be chronic infections, metabolic disorders, malignancies, viral illnesses, etc. All these causes can be ruled out by having an FNAC of the gland under the guidance of your physician.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
Regards,
Dr. Praveen Tayal
