It seems that your wife is having a urinary tract infection. In addition to drinking plenty of water, she will also need antibiotics to control it. Urinary infections are common in pregnancy and are more common in women with pregnancy induced diabetes. So please check if the blood sugar has been tested and if it is normal. She may take any fluid she likes if the sugar report is normal. Also please get a urine culture test to look for the offending organism and if it is there, see your doctor and get antibiotics like nitrofuratoin or any one suggested by the test report and found safe during pregnancy after consulting your doctor.
Do not worry. The pain will go away after the infection is controlled. Hope this satisfies your query. Thanks for using HCM. Feel free to ask any more questions that you may have. Dr Madhuri Bagde Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist
