I have a myxoid cyst on my thumb below my nail. it became quite large and painful two weeks ago.Before that it was there about a year and didn't bother me. Then 3 weeks ago it began to drain a clear sticky substance. Then as I said it became painful and bloody looking and drained a small amount of bloody substance. After that it was not so painful. My primary care dr. looked at it the next day and wanted me to see a dermatologist. I did so last Friday. He said I should see a hand surgeon and have it removed and sent out to be analyzed. It is no longer painful and I am wondering if I should just forget about it.
