Nauseated, Losing Weight. CT, Stool Specs, C Diff Tests All Negative. What Is This ?

My husband has been nauseatd for been losing weight for 3 years .The weight loss has been cyclical ,maybe 8 to 10 lbs and then stabilizes for a few maonthe /He never regains the weight and to date he has lost 55 lbs. Many ct scans have been done -allneg.I passed 2 segmants of tapeworms in 2007.I didn't fish them out of the toilet.I know what they look like because I am a nurse. The md sent 1 stool spec and it was neg.Right before I passed them I was in Nevada and I got very nauseated no vomiting, but excessive diarrhea .I went to the local hosp and got iv fluids and a test for c diff was done(oh boy)Any way that is why I thought my husband could have one also. Now after 55 lbs lost they want toput in a peg tube.He is so nauseated he barely eats. What kind of md can help us?

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

CT is not a test which rules out every disease. Please note that it usually does not tell anything about large intestine cancer, stomach cancer (especially small one), esophageal cancer. To rule out this diseases, gastrscopy and colonoscopy is necessary.
I suggest your husband to visit gastroenterologist, have mentioned tests.
If both scopes will be negative, brain tumor should be also considered. To do that, head CT should be done.
Also some medicines (like Digoxine) can cause nausea and vomiting.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
