Childhood asthma can be present at this age, especially when there is family history of asthma. If your child has recurrent
wheezing episodes, requires nebulization, night time
cough, symptoms associated with seasonal changes, I would first think of asthma. Asthma can be allergic and non-allergic.
The investigations suggested by your doctor will help, but if they are negative, it will not mean your daughter has no allergy/asthma.
There is not a single test to diagnose asthma at this age. Detailed asking of symptoms and pattern of symptoms only will suggest asthma. However, there are tests available for diagnosis of allergy, I would additionally suggest allergy testing and serum IgE levels for allergy.
