Need Help To Understanding MRI Impression

Hello. I just got my MRI result back from the office but I don t have a doctor available for a little while to actually take a look and I was hoping that someone could make sense of it for me. The impression reads as follows. At L4/5, there is compression of the traversing left L5 nerve root secondary to a moderate central disc protrusion and facet join degenerative change. At L5/S1, there is compression of the traversing right S1 nerve root secondary to a large right central disc protrusion with a superimposed focal right subarticular extrusion. I am experiencing pain in my right hip down the outside of my right leg, numbness in the outside half of my foot and I am starting to experience extreme weakness in both my legs when I try to walk anywhere. From what I can make out from the impression I have a couple of pinched nerves but I don t really understand how serious the situation is and what I can do to help make it better. Any help would be appreciated.

It seems that you are having problem with your spinal cord.As per the report you have written there disc problem at L-4-5 and L5-S1.There are discs means cushions between vertebra's.they act as shock absorbers and allow our body work and function normally in different postures. There are nerves passing between holes in vertebra,at this two places nerves are getting compressed due to the disc are compressing them because either they are torn or swollen or moved out of place. When nerve gets compressed they cause pain in the area that they supply and leads to symptoms that you have.Your doctor will explain what is best for you about this.so do not worry this will be taken care of.
