Need Medicine For Swollen Foot And Leg After Falling Down

About 5 days ago, I fell while walking down a stone step stairway outside of our swimming pool. I was also holding my 1 yr old son at the time. My right foot and lower leg are now very bruised and swollen and causing more pain than when I first fell. Any advice?

Hi,

My advice will be to take pain killers. Local heat and get an X-ray of the affected part. With X-rays consult an orthopedic surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Hello,

If you are still able to walk then the damage you did is likely not super serious.

What happened is you likely damaged the soft tissues that are now swelling and causing more pain than before.

Simply icing and elevating your leg, and taking ibuprofen should help it go away in a couple weeks time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Daniel Richard Paull, Orthopaedic Surgeon
