I had a baby for months ago, I am one in awhile feel super lighted to the point that I am going to pass out. At first I did have an infection. I got that cleared up, and was doing well, until now. Would it be that I might need more iron? Or could it to be that I might be eating too much chocalote with caffeine free pop? I am looking for eating fruits and vegetables that would make me feel better. Thanks.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Please, do not worry. Lightheadedness after childbirth is common and highly likely from low blood pressure (hypotension). But low blood sugar, anemia, dehydration, thyroid gland disorders (hypothyroidism) and inner ear disorders may also cause lightheadedness. Caffeine has a stimulant effect to the brain. It may cause dizziness if you are consuming too much of it. Initial investigation of lightheadedness should include physical exam (including checking blood pressure), complete blood count (CBC), blood chemistry test and blood sugar. Your doctor may order additional investigation according to the lab results. Specific treatment is based on the underlying cause of hypotension.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Thank you, Malik Amonov MD
