Newborn With Underweight. What Are The Precautions To Be Taken?

hi. we've just had a newborn in our house.. just a week old... he was a little underweight .. about 2.3 kgs.. but has gained about a 150 gms now.. what precautions should be taken while handling the baby.. which oil would be best to massage the baby.. during evenings and morning the baby cries a lot.. what could be the cause..?? we have a very hot climate.. temperatures soar to more than 45 C in our city.. in the afternoons..

Hi ! By definition your baby is low birth weight but by and large any kid more than 2kg can safely be managed as a normal healthy child. Only thing you should take care of is prevention of infection by frequent hand wash before handling the baby. Olive oil is pretty good though you can use any oil other than mustard oil. Causes of excessive crying in your kid can be due to either colicky pain or over clothing. Try giving a colic medicine . Take care.
