Nipple Piercing Infected, Pussy Swollen, Painful, Bleeding. How To Cure Infection?

Hello, since the beginning of the week my 9 month old nipple piercing is infected. It's pussy, swollen, sometimes even bleeds and is really painful. I'm in Australia for almost 3 months now, so might be the weather or the pool that caused this infection. Anyway, I started using sea salt spray on it and also put plasters on it regularely because it was too painful without. Went to the pharmacy today and they recommended an eye ointment "chlorsig 1%". I've used it three times today. Do you think that this is the right way to deal with the infection?

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The persistent infection that you are having is not likely to subside with over the counter topical treatments. You need oral systemic antibiotics after an examination by a physician.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
