No Periods After Taking Ponstan For Painful Menstrual Cramps. Negative Pregnancy Test. Reason?

Hi, It is normal for me to have irregular periods anything from a 28 to 41 day cycle. I haven't had a period now for 44 days. I have done a pregnancy test which is negative and i'm totally sure anyway that I am not pregnant! I take ponstan for painful menstrual cramps. I have been taking one a day 500mg for the last week as I thought maybe my period was coming and I like to get control of the pain before it gets too much. My question is can ponstan (mefanamic acid 500mg) cause a missed period, delay it or reduce the blood flow so much that my period was non existent. Thanks

Hello ma'am and welcome.

Ponstan has shown not to cause significant changes to a menstrual cycle, but this is a possibility and cannot be ruled out.

I would advuse visiting a doctor who would by protocal rule out pregnancy and other conditions that can cause such a presentation before assuming ponstan to be the cause.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
