Non-verbal, Has Autism. On Depakote For Mood Stability, Incidence Of Incontinence Increased. Testicle Red, Tender
my 23 year old son is non-verbal and has autism. he is on depakote for mood stability and otherwise no other meds. previously had occasional incidents of incontinence at night that have increased over past 3 months. when he does wet bed at night it is very foul smelling and first urine of the morning is also very foul smelling. have tried one round of antibiotics thinking it was a uti. now noticed his right testicle is bright red and it seems like it must be tender as he doesn't want me to touch/examine it when i am giving him his shower.
It seems that he probably has an infection of his testicle- orchitis or the cord attached to it- epididymitis. He needs to be examined by a physician immediately and need to be started on antibiotics for the particular infection.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Dr. Sumeet.
