Hi welcome to healthcare magic
Breastfeeding is emphasized for as long as possible but some women have problems with it.
Before you start a formula or switch to another you should make sure that you and your wife are doing everything to successfully breastfeed because it (1) decreases the chances of the child having issues with his or her weight (2) decreases allergies (3) decreases the likelihood of the baby developing infections of the ear , stomach (4) is readily available at the exact right temperature (5) decreases the chances of causing
constipation because it is easily digested by the baby
Your wife should make sure that she is comfortable and the baby is also comfortable, the entire
areola , not just the nipple should be in the mouth or the nipple will get sore. Breast feed for at least 30 minutes, either on one breast and alternate or 15 mins each.
The less you breast feed the less milk you will produce. Her body will produce milk according to demand and once you start supplementing millk production will be reduced
It is preferred breastfeeding is not stopped , it really is the best milk for babies, the formulas actually do their best to be like breast milk.
If you have difficulty , you should consult a
lactation specialist or pediatriacian for help
You have to be careful what milk you use otherwise , because some babies react badly to some formula.
If you try all the breastfeeding techniques and still have problems consult your
pediatrician regarding which milk to use.
I hope this information is helpful to you, good luck
