Not Been To Bathroom Since CT Scan. What Should I Do?
My daughter had a CT Scan last Monday, October 7th She has not gone to the bathroom since. I have given her miralax, colace, prune juice etc. and still nothing. She did have surgery this Saturday on her female organs for a cyst. What should i do ?
At first, try to keep a warm compress on her lower abdomen for 15 minutes every now.and then. If this does not help, place the flow of water from a hand faucet on her external genitalia; if either or both of these remedies do not work in immediately releaving her, then take her to an ER immediately and report the same. The doctors will palpate her lower abdomen and decide on a catheter to drain the bladder.
Hi, Thanks for the query. The frequency of having bowel movement can differ from person to person. Some may have once in three days also. You once check whether she is taking sufficient food or not. Taking plenty of water is necessary for smooth bowel movement. If she is not passing motion even after taking sufficient food and water also, better to consult gynecologist and get examined. Sometimes intraabdominal masses can exert pressure on bowels and can lead to constipation. By examination the possible cause for the problem can be identified and treatment can be given accordingly. Laxatives can help to some extent. If not she may require enema. Before doing surgery, they will definitely give enema. So, no need to worry. Take care.
