Noticed A Delay In Periods

Hello. I'm 27 yrs old and I didn't get my period for the last 2 months. I went to see my doctor and she proposed a transvaginal scan. However, I am still a virgin and it's an invasive procedure I would like to avoid if possible. Do you think it's really necessary?

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, for sure I would adviSe you to avoid transvaginal scan as you are virgin because the procedure might injure your hymen. I would rather suggest you to do a ultrasound examination of lower abdomen and have a course of Medroxyprogesterone tablet 10 mg for 5 days.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sujoy S. Bhattacharjee, OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine
