Numbness And Cold Thigh, Burning Pain When Seated For A While. History Of Fall Causing Severe Bruising And Permanent Swelling In Thigh. Possible Trapped Fluid?
Hello, I fell down a step several years ago that caused severe bruising and swelling to the thigh. The swelling never went away 100%. Now every time I sit for a while the thigh goes numb and cold and if remain sitting begins to cause a irritating burning pain. Could it be trapped fluid as swelling never went away? Please advise
To begin with I would need more information from you regarding the injury you sustained. Did you take an Xray etc and what did it say about the injury. It is not likely that there is any fluid trapped there. But it is usually seen in practice, that any bony injury tends to deform the area which may look like a swelling. It is also possible that this deformity may be putting pressure on surrounding structures like nerves causing the pain. It is important that you see a doctor who can carry out an examination and test if not already done and confirm if there are any changes to the structures in that area. You can deal with the pain by taking opiods as per your age and weight but the cause needs to be investigated.
