Numbness, Pain In The Hand, Wrist After Lifting Heavy Weight. Need To See A Doctor?
32 ur old female healthy athletic and a mom!! Was picking up big screen 57inches but only about 20 lbs. when 90% of lift to table was complete alone.. I felt a pop instant burning loss of hand pushed tv with body. Held wrist for about 20 min could not move pain scale 10. Instant bruise on top below thumb along connected tendon about quarter inch below wrist. And palm side up bruising almost and Angled bruise from top. . Bluish and yellowish very quick but light. Now 3 hours later I have 60 percent movement. Numb weird feeling localized. Low strength. Can't open a door. Pinch. Push pressure. Do the "ok" signal with hand and fingers all with happens with intense pain. Like punch you in the face but not really pain! But numb at same time. I hate going to ER, they will take X-ray and tell me it's not broken. I know it is not a bone issue. But what do you think? And how can I make the point that its my tissues and stuff not the bones without them thinking I'm asking too much or self diagnosing as people try to be dr. Google and I get that. Please do u think it is a medical needs issue? Or can this momma take some Motrin and ice it and be ok?
Apply ice packs for one day only and switch over to hot packs after 24 hours of injury. Take ibuprofen 400 mg thrice a day for 5 days. after meals and apply some splint to the affected part.If swelling and pain persist then you may not have much choice but to visit ER or an orthopedic consultation directly .
