Old Aged, Advanced Alzheimer's, Lost Appetite, Not Passing Stool. Taking Antibiotics For UTI, Jaundice, Vitals Stable. Advice?

Mom is 90 ... advanced Alzheimer's ... recently lost appetite ... then suddenly stopped eating ... no stool for about a week ... fleet enema helped, but still not eating ... taking antibiotic for UTI ... jaundice ... urine is bilious ... drinks about 10 oz fluid daily ... nothing else ... vitals are all stable and good ... ... ... understand the ultimate outcome but not the process ... please advise. Thank you ...

Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
At this stage, Ryle's tube (naso-gastric tube) feeding may be started. It is important to provide him adequate nutrition, as lack of nutrition would make him prone to get more infections. In addition, his blood pressure may drop, if his intake is less.
