Husband is taking warfarin since he had a stroke 9 years ago. Is it better for health to eat more greens and adjust warfarin to that?

Hello,

Thank you for your question.

The therapeutic range of INR should be within 2.0 to 3.0 for a person on warfarin.

Your husband needs to maintain a similar diet and get the INR within the therapeutic range.

If he adds greens to his diet, this might alter the INR and his dose will need to be changed.

If he plans to eat greens on a regular basis, then he would need to increase the dose to maintain a therapeutic INR.

Regards,

Dr.Saurabh Joshi,
