On Akurit For Bone Tuberculosis. Done Blood Test. Any Side Effect Of Medicine?

My mother has bone tuberculosis (elbow joint, suspected, as the doctor has not done any biopsy test yet). she is on medication (akurit 4 and benadon) for last one and half month. her LFT suggests a high AST- 119 and high ALT-118 and slightly high total protein- 9.20. she is doing fine, not any particular problem otherwise. is there any cause of concern or its just standard side-effect? thanks..

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello!

Thanks for the query.
Rifampicin, isoniazid and pyrazinamide are hepatotoxic drugs in AKURIT.
Her liver enzymes are raised (119 and 118) due to these drugs.
Hence it needs to be closely monitored and dose adjustment of these drugs should be done accordingly.

Get urgent opinion of your treating physician.
She may need to change to other hepatic safe drugs like streptomycin or ofloxacin.

Hope this will help you better.
Thank you.
