On And Off Dark Red Dots, Pain To Touch Rashes Underarm. Is This Possible Damage To Sweat Glands?
My husband has been getting a rash under his arm pit(s) sometimes under one arm and sometime under both that are like dark red dots and they kinda hurt when you press them, they do not itch and nothing comes out of them and there is no odor. They appeared this summer. He is 50 yrs. old. His dr. gave him an antibiotic, we have used cortisone, athlete s foot by equate that the pharmacist recommended. They do not stay, they come and go. He has switched soaps and deoderants. He always wears sleeveless shirts. He has used numbchucks in the past and was wondering if maybe he damaged his sweat glands? Thank you for your help.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Lohit K's Response
Hi,
This may be due to infected sweat gland or hair follicle. Ask him to keep the area clean and dry, clean with soap twice daily(once in morning and once before going to bed), use only mild deodorants that is not allergic and wont cause any problem to him, and use only sharp new razors every time if he shaves the area. These precautionary measures will help him to prevent these spots to reoccur. Use only cotton dress.
