On And Off Severe Shooting Pain In Ear, Tiredness. Little Help From Painkillers. History Of Attending Pilates Class. Advice

I am experiencing sever electrical like pain shooting through my left ear . Pain is intense but last only 2 seconds. I have these symptoms every few minutes for an hour , or so , then it stops for a while. I have no rash anywhere or fever but I have been inexplicably tired. these symptoms began after a Pilates class 2 days ago. I am taking an over the counter pain killer which helps a bit only. I have no hearing loss. I am 63 yrs of age.

Hi,
Thanks for contacting HCM
You have on and off severe shooting pain in left ear, pain is intense but last only for 2 seconds. These symptoms began after a Pilates class 2 days ago.63 year old.
These all finding suggestive of pain in the ear due to change in atmospheric pressure(Hypobaric training).
Treatment that are useful for the pain relieved in this condition are: Valsalva maneuver, Politzer bag, and decompression.

Hi, it appears that you have the infection of the middle ear, probably with a whole in the ear drum. If water enters the middle ear the infection starts and pain starts.
I advise you to consult an E.N.T.surgeon for diagnosis and treatment. Thank you.
