On Antibiotics For UTI And On Birth Control Pills. Feeling Of Pressure And Dull Pain In Abdomen When Moved. Suggestions?

Hi. About a week and a half ago I noticed it was really uncomfortable when I pee. It didnt burn or anything but it was just really uncomfortable towards the end. It took me a couple of days before I went to a clinic and I told him I thought i had a UTI and he didnt ask me anything he just gave me a prescription. At the same time he gave me a prescription for birth control as I have just recently started to have sex. It has been a week since I have been on my birth control and I wasnt able to get the antibiotics right away but it has been about four days since I have taken them. While it is only mildy uncomfortable to pee now I have this horrible feeling of pressure that started in my lower back kidney area but now is in my abdomen. It Its like a dull pain/pressure feeling that bothers me when I move abruptly or when i try to sit. It feels like its getting worse each day.

Although abdominal cramps are common with birth control pills, the symptoms in their sequence and the fact that you have not found complete relief from the antibiotics despite it being the 4th day (96 hours or more), indicates a failure of antibiotic therapy. All your symptoms are related to the UTI in my opinion, so let us try treating the UTI first, before considering birth control to be the cause.

This is most probably because your doctor did not take the trouble to even investigate, which always has to be done, and also because the antibiotic prescribed could either:
-Not be prescribed at the right dosage
-You could be resistant to the particular antibiotic

Which is why I request you to either re-visit the same doctor, or consult another one who would immediately change the antibiotic and might also request for a urine culture and sensitivity examination, which is an investigation conducted to check the response each antibiotic will have if prescribed to you. This will provide information on the most suitable antibiotic that can be used to treat you and ensure effective and rapid recovery. A response should be observed within 24-48 hours. Not longer.

In the meantime, please consume plenty of water.
