Hello and welcome to HCM.
Thank you for your query.
First of all, I hope you have followed the instructions of use. If misprostol is administered orally, it needs to be kept in the cheek or under the tongue till it dissolves.
Also part of the instructions is that, after the first administration, if the cramping and bleeding has not been initiated, the second course of
misoprostol should be taken in the similar way, three hours after he first administration. But, you have done this with a gap of 24 hours (approximately).
Also, if the second administration also has not resulted in termination of
pregnancy, it is advised to repeat the same within 3 hours of administration of the second course.
I would also like to add, that these instructions are for women who are within 12 weeks of pregnancy. There are different set of instructions for women from 13-20 weeks pregnant, and not indicated for those above 20 weeks of pregnancy.
As you have not followed the instructions well enough, I would advise you to repeat the whole course again but only under the supervision of your doctor.
Yes, vaginal administration is said to be more effective than the oral route. Please always follow your doctor's instructions, and inform your doctor if you choose to administer the medication through the vaginal route, before initiating the course. Majority of women experience an
abortion within 24 hours of use of the medication. Please be patient and keep your doctor in the loop at all times.
I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-shoaib-khan/64581 . I would gladly help you.
